![]() Though still not quite adjusted to California menu prices, Stacks is a jewel for the breakfast crowd. The restaurant decor and general vibe is one of welcoming and lingering over coffee, newspaper, and conversation. The servers seem to help each other out and all appear welcoming and attentive, but we think we had the real winners with Pepe and Jorge. We cannot say enough about Pepe's contribution to the welcoming atmosphere on both days. He still must have his bacon, eggs, and toast, so we left stuffed, but happy. Jorge assured him it would be the perfect savory sweet combination, and he was right. My husband got the Chocolate Divine waffle, and was concerned it might be too sweet. Returning yesterday, I ordered a ham and cheese omelette and asked for substitution of sourdough toast for the bagel. My husband got the bacon waffle and also eggs and sourdough toast. It came with a bagel and wonderful jams are on the table. It is served with fantastic potatoes which are shaved and pan crisped. We will admit to sticker shock on California pricesas we have searched for budget friendly breakfasts. My husband and I are big breakfast eaters. The odds are stacked against you that you’ll have a good experience. I feel like I absolutely wasted 40 bucks for breakfast when I could’ve spent 40 bucks at camper down the street for their phenomenal should be a Michelin starred brunch. I will be very disappointed in myself if someone ever convinces me to come back here. I think they’ve forgotten that they are a breakfast place. When you come in for breakfast, they have these giant multicolored mimosas sitting on the counter. Also, they are very heavily promoting alcohol beverages at this place. I would avoid this place like the plague. Honestly, there are so many better restaurants for brunch in the area than this place. They were clearly not fully cooked either. I guess this is understandable since they’re paid so little in a high cost of living area. Clearly, the chef had no idea what (s)he was doing or simply didn’t care. They brought it out to me with burned cheese and literally completely raw vegetables. Upon returning yesterday, we were very disappointed. We took a break for may be close to a year because we found some new breakfast places that we truly love. My son and I used to come here maybe every few months.
