These days, it just feels like the game is wasting my time. These were always fairly transparent ways to pad out the length of games that didn't really have a ton of content, but that was commonplace and acceptable in the 8 and 16-bit eras. For instance, the lives system, the one-hit kills from spike traps and bottomless pits, the jumps that require near-pixel-perfect accuracy, etc. However, even as a Mega Man fan, there are some aspects of Mega Man 11 that adhere too slavishly to old-school design sensibilities that were left in the past for a reason.
